Tri-City Mental Health offers paid internships for graduate-level Master of Social Work (MSW) students. Students gain valuable opportunities to complete their internship requirements while gaining real-world experience in community mental health. Our internships are available for both first- and second-year MSW students, with tailored experiences to support your professional growth and career preparation.

 

What You Can Expect:

  • Supervision: Weekly individual and group supervision to guide your development
  • Skill Development: Training in electronic health records, documentation, and evidence-based practices
  • Supportive Environment: Learn from experienced preceptors, field instructors, and staff dedicated to helping you succeed

 

First-Year MSW Students:

Interns will engage in foundational community mental health experiences, including:

  • School counseling services
  • Wellness and recovery-focused support groups and programming
  • Clinical outpatient services
  • Macro-level opportunities working with individuals across all age groups

Requirements

First or second year graduate students in a Master of Social Work program

Attend one of the following schools:

  • University of California, 
Los Angeles

  • University of Southern California

  • California State University at Northridge,  Dominguez Hills, Long Beach or Los Angeles

  • Azusa Pacific University
 

Second-Year MSW Students:

Build skills in a chosen concentration to prepare for a career in mental health practice.

Opportunities focus on:

  • Children and families
  • Transition-age youth (TAY)
  • Adults and older adults
